В 2008 году в городе Всеволожске Ленинградской области на базе ветеринарной клиники появился первый в стране музей кошки. Экспозицию составили самые разнообразные предметы, имеющие отношение к кошкам – фигурки животных из разных уголков планеты, предметы быта, печатные издания.
в общей сложности коллекция насчитывает более 4000 экземпляров .
Филиал музея Республика кошек появился в Санкт-Петербурге в 2011 году. Ежегодно его посещают около ста тысяч гостей. Необычное место стало центром котокультуры города.
Благодаря музею каждый год более 700 животных находят себе новых хозяев.
