What should a "new person" know and be able to do?
In the magazine "Ogonyok" (weekly socio-political and literary - art magazine) from 1929 in numbers 2 to 15 quiz offers people to play the game and gain points for the right answers to get closer to the title of "Hero of our time".
Each issue offers a number of questions, photos and tasks to be solved by the reader. All this is encouraged by points. In the next issue are published answers to questions so that the reader can check himself and put a certain number of points.

The 2nd issue of the "Hero of Our Time" quiz explains its existence: "Its task is to identify a set of individual requirements that our era of socialist creativity imposes on an ordinary worker builder of socialism.
These are the requirements that are written about in the introduction to the quiz:
· "Our "hero" must be able to make the most of all the infinite physical and mental abilities with which nature has endowed him.
· "We are for well-developed muscles, but we are against the gymnast.
· "We are for a well-developed clear head, but we are against tadpoles.
· "We are against superficial omniscientists - for them, the world is a huge smooth ball, which has nowhere to cling to.
· "We are against the narrow specialists "whose completeness is like a flux, for it is unilateral.
· "The hero of our time is a versatile, observant public figure, a working man.
The reader is invited to examine the photo and answer questions for which he will receive a certain number of points.
At the end of the issue informs the reader that the path to the title of "Hero of our time" will be thorns and only stamina, patience and the will to win will help to pass this path.

This issue tells the story of a time travel in which a person realizes how weak they are.
The magazine offers the reader to "test himself", because "everyone who wants to be a "hero of our time", if not to keep up with life".
It is offered to perform 10 exercises for which points are also given (10 for each of the exercises).

"The hero of our time must be smart to hold the numbers firmly in his hands and skillfully use this wonderful tool.
The magazine offers to answer the questions for the exercise to get 5

Episode 5 - "ARE YOU A GOOD READER?"
""The Hero of our time" should certainly be a good reader, which is not so easy. In order to have a printed word, you need to be able, like a good tamer, in time to tame the rebellious lines and firmly anchor it in the memory cell. You need to be able to swim against the flow of the author's thought, to unravel the letters of thought that are tangled in black icons - in short, to take a critical view of the author.

Series Eleven - "ARE YOU A GOOD LISTENER AND SPEAKER?"
"The ability to diversify speech, to speak accurately and concisely without resorting to foreign words is an important and necessary task".

"One only has to remember that there may be a time when skill and physical dexterity may be needed not only for such peaceful tasks, but also to fight those who use objects for their intended purpose... . Then, each person will need dexterity and ingenuity, which only sport can give them.
The magazine invites the reader to check if he is a good sportsman and to indicate for which sports the sports-inventory items are used, the photos of which are printed.

"A hero of our time should not walk around in a fire helmet of Troy's heroes or in a dislocated Cossack cap by Kryuchkov, but nevertheless, in addition to the civil valor of an inspector, an inhabitant, a technician, an athlete, etc., he should also know military science in order to... well, you know what for".
The following 3 quite interesting examples are given in the journal.
"Are you ready for defense, reader, will find out at least part of how many points you will gain by solving the military tasks below. The maximum for a conscious citizen is 100 points. If you have less, pull up.

THE RESULTS OF THE GAME "HERO OF OUR TIME"
In this issue, the editorial staff of Ogonyok magazine summarizes the game, which was published in 12 issues.
"The first two days after the release of the first series of "Hero of our time", the editorial staff did not receive a single letter, but on the third day began - a ball of white envelopes threw the tables. Written from everywhere".
About the purposes of the game is also written in this issue: "The Fire" in his new game "Hero of our time" tried to mobilize the attention, memory, abilities and social instincts of their readers.
The editorial board summarizes some of the results:
"Every time has its own heroes.
Pechorin, who purposelessly and thoughtlessly trampled others' lives, maybe big and good ones, was a true hero of his time, but Pechorin is now, some "cheerful" guy, who crushed a woman's life because of her spiritual lightness and emptiness - for us it is no longer a hero, but a pathetic, insignificant and unnecessary person.
"Give all that you can give and take from our interesting creative life all that it can give" - these words conclude the editorial board summing up.

Что должен знать и уметь «новый человек»? В журнале «Огонек» (еженедельный общественно-политический и литературно – художественный журнал) от 1929 года в номерах с №2 по №15 викторина предлагает людям играть в игру и набирать очки за правильные ответы чтобы приблизиться к званию «Герой нашего времени».
В каждом выпуске предлагается ряд вопросов, фотографий и задач, которые необходимо решить читателю. Все это поощряется очками. В последующем номере публикуются ответы на вопросы для того, чтобы читатель мог себя проверить и поставить себе определенное количество очков.

Читателю предлагается рассмотреть фотографию и ответить на вопросы, за которые он получит определенное количество очков.
В конце выпуска сообщается читателю, что путь к званию «герой нашего времени» будет тернист и с успехом пройти этот путь помогут лишь выдержка, терпение и воля к победе.

ИТОГИ ИГРЫ «ГЕРОЙ НАШЕГО ВРЕМЕНИ»
В этом номере редакция журнала «Огонек» подводит итоги игры, которая была опубликована в 12 номерах.
«Первые два дня после выхода первой серии “Героя нашего времени” редакция не получила ни одного письма, но на третий день началось – мятель белых конвертов закидала столы. Писали отовсюду»
О целях игры также написано в этом выпуске: « ”Огонек” в своей новой игре “Герой нашего времени” старался мобилизовать внимание, память, способности и общественные инстинкты своих читателей.»
Редакция подводит некоторые итоги:
«Каждое время имеет своих героев.
Печорин, бесцельно и бездумно топтавший чужие, может быть большие и хорошие жизни, был истинным героем своего времени, но Печорин нынешний, какой-нибудь “жизнерадостный” парень, раздавивший так вот, от душевной легкости и пустоты женскую жизнь, – для нас уже не герой, а человек жалкий, ничтожный и ненужный.»
«Давай все, что дать можешь, и бери от нашей интересной творческой жизни все, что она может дать» - этими словами заканчивает редакция подведение итогов.
