Pride in their actions does not free them from opposing thoughts

Strugatsky "Ugly Swans"
There is an epidemic in the city, since then it has been raining in the city. In connection with some event, some people begin to manifest a genetic disease.

В произведении «Час Быка» отряд землян отправляется на Торманс, дабы посмотреть на успехи землян, перебравшихся туда много лет назад. Узнав об уровне развития на планете, герои собираются принести на эту планету свой строй общества
«Известны ли случаи, когда человечество на какой-нибудь другой планете достигало высокого уровня науки, техники, производительных сил, но не становилось коммунистическим и не погибало от страшных сил преждевременного познания?»
Перехватив сигналы с планеты они узнают об уровне развития планеты и выяснили, что главы нарочно приостанавливают возможное развитие
- «На это не имеет права ни одно государство, ни одна планета во вселенной. Священный долг каждого из нас — нарушать такое беспримерное угнетение. Кто смеет закрывать мыслящему существу путь к познанию мира? …Когда в Великом Кольце обнаруживают государство, закрывающее своим людям путь к знанию, то такое государство разрушают. Это единственный случай, дающий право на прямое вмешательство в дела чужой планеты… запрет познавать искусство, науки, жизнь других планет недопустим»
Отряд прогрессоров намерен остановить это

Свой поступок они считают благородным. Они делают так, потому что привыкли, потому что не могут по-другому.

Но как не поскользнуться на применении древних способов борьбы — силы, обмана, тайны? Разве не очевидно, что применяя их, мы становимся на один уровень с теми, от кого хотим спасать? А находясь на том же уровне, какое право имеем мы судить, ибо теряем знание?..— Разве можно полностью отвергать вмешательство, если с детских лет — и во всей социальной жизни — общество ведет людей по пути дисциплины и самоусовершенствования?»
Гордость за свои поступки не освобождает их от противоположных мыслей
«Шаг выше, к народу — совершенствование его социальной жизни, а затем и совокупности народов, целой страны или планеты. Что же такое ступени к социализму и коммунизму, как не вмешательство знания в организацию человеческих отношений? — Да, это так, но если оно создается изнутри, а не извне. Здесь же мы чужие, пришельцы из совсем другого мира…»
Прогрессорство хорошее дело, если оно не идёт в разрез гуманности. Они спасают население, которое страдает от тоталитаризма, но при этом на Тормансе, в последствии, происходит государственный переворот, который ценой многих жизней ведёт планету к идее социализма
Стругацкие «Трудно быть богом»
В произведении Стругацких «Трудно быть Богом» описывается история прогрессора Антона, который предстаёт в мире средневековья как Дон Румата.
На планете негласно присутствуют сотрудники земного Института Экспериментальной Истории, начавшие наблюдение за развитием цивилизации больше двух десятилетий назад
« Шестой год он жил этой странной, двойной жизнью и, казалось бы, совсем привык к ней»
«Он только провел рукой по волосам, чтобы упавшая прядь не закрыла камень на золотом обруче. Камень был не камень, а объектив телепередатчика, и обруч был не обруч, а рация. Историки на Земле видели и слышали все, что видели и слышали двести пятьдесят разведчиков на девяти материках планеты. И поэтому разведчики были обязаны смотреть и слушать»

А заканчивается рассказ разговором с единственным представителем слаборазвитой цивилизации – Аратой. Он знает о новейших технологиях, которые могут передать им прогрессоры. Технологии, которые помогут побеждать в схватках и Арата произносит такую фразу:
« Вам не следовало спускаться с неба, - сказал вдруг Арата. Возвращайтесь к себе. Вы только вредите нам.
Это не так, - мягко сказал Румата. Во всяком случае, мы никому не вредим. - Нет, вредите. Вы внушаете беспочвенные надежды...»
Внедрение в ход истории недопустимо, своим бездействием и словами, которые обнадёживают людей того времени они меняют ход истории, тем самым не ускоряя её ход, а совсем наоборот
«Вы ослабили мою волю, дон Румата. Раньше я надеялся только на себя, а теперь вы сделали так, что я чувствую вашу силу за своей спиной. Раньше я вел каждый бой так, словно это мой последний бой.»
Стругацкие «Парень из преисподней»
Корней, прогрессор, рассказывает Гагу о своей миссии и как они оказались на земле
«Я работал на вашей планете, на Гиганде, в северных джунглях герцогства. Случайно я оказался около тебя во время боя Я перенес тебя на свой звездолет… Это такой специальный аппарат для путешествия между звезд… И доставил сюда. Здесь мы тебя вылечили»

Гага пугает система, где всё рассчитано за него и поддаётся прогнозам
«Почудилось мне в эти черные минуты, что никуда я не годен, ничего я не могу здесь сделать, в этом сытом и лукавом мире, где каждый мой шаг рассчитан и предусмотрен на сто лет вперед. И вполне может быть, что каждое мое действие, какое я еще только собираюсь совершить, они уже знают, как пресечь и обратить себе на пользу.»
От неведенья он думал, что единственная цель прогрессоров – порабощение

Прогрессоры выполняют прекрасную миссию, заканчивая войны, примиряя народы, развивая цивилизации, но многие люди находятся на уровне развития Гага, которые уже травмированы войной, которым только она и нужна.
Стругацкие "Жук в муравейнике"
В этом рассказе мы встречаемся с Максимом Камерером, который работает в отделе ЧП КОМКОН-2. Начальство поручает ему задачу: найти Льва Абалкина, который, является причастным к Странникам. О них нам известно, что они вмешиваются в судьбы миров дабы передать знания.
«Разумеется, такая цивилизация не имела никакой исторической перспективы, но тут пришли Странники. Впервые, насколько нам известно, они активно вмешались в события чужого мира.»
Из этих двух отрывков мы узнаём о сути земного прогрессорства
«Конечно, Прогрессор - это такая профессия, где железная, я бы сказал, военная дисциплина совершенно неизбежна. Прогрессор сплошь и рядом вынужден делать не то, что ему хочется, а то, что приказывает КОМКОН.»
"Я прекрасно помню это видение мира, когда любой носитель разума априорно воспринимается как существо, этически равное тебе, когда невозможна сама постановка вопроса, хуже он тебя или лучше, даже если его этика и мораль отличаются от твоей…И тут мало теоретической подготовки, недостаточно модельного кондиционирования — надо самому пройти через сумерки морали, увидеть кое-что собственными глазами, как следует опалить собственную шкуру и накопить не один десяток тошных воспоминаний, чтобы понять наконец, и даже не просто понять, а вплавить в мировоззрение эту, некогда тривиальнейшую мысль: да, существуют на свете носители разума, которые гораздо, значительно хуже тебя, каким бы ты ни был… И вот только тогда ты обретаешь способность делить на чужих и своих, принимать мгновенные решения в острых ситуациях и научаешься смелости сначала действовать, а потом разбираться.По-моему, в этом сама суть прогрессора: умение решительно разделить на своих и чужих. Именно за это умение дома к ним относятся с опасливым восторгом, с восторженной опаской, а сплошь и рядом — с несколько брезгливой настороженностью. И тут ничего не поделаешь. Приходится терпеть — и нам, и им. Потому что либо прогрессоры, либо нечего земле соваться во внеземные дела…"
Оказалось, что Лев – один из зародышей, найденных в неизвестном инкубаторе, рядом с которыми лежали «детонаторы», а на каждом символ, соответствующий родимому пятну на локте. Зная историю случая с внеземным инкубатором, у Рудольфа случается истерия, основанная на страхе вторжения более развитой цивилизации, что впоследствии понесло название «Синдром Сикорски». Он намерен убить отпрыска Странников, поэтому отправляется в музей, где его встречает Айзек Бромберг
«Кто? Вы? Какого дьявола! - Луч уперся в Экселенца. -А! Сикорски!»
Там они встречают и Льва Абалкина, который пришёл в музей, забрать свой медальон и наконец исполнить программу, предписанную Странниками, но в страхе Экселенц убивает его
Лев в произведении является одной из тринадцати линий вторжения Странников в мир менее развитых землян. Никому не известны цели
«-Странники, Странники... Вы совсем ничего о них не знаете?
-Очень мало.»
Таким странным жестом Странники порождают только страх, который и так подкреплён убеждениями о тотальной слежке
«Предполагаем, что они освоили всю нашу Галактику, причем очень давно. Еще мы предполагаем, что у них нет дома - в нашем или в вашем понимании этого слова.»
Создаётся ощущение, что они везде и в тоже время нигде, что всё идёт по их плану. Они хотят принести в жизнь человечества блага прогресса, но людям не известна методика Странников направления на «правильный путь» развития, поэтому они всячески идут на то, чтобы оторваться от влияния Странников, что влечёт за собой ненужные жертвы
Стругацкие «Гадкие лебеди»
В городе происходит эпидемия, с тех пор в городе идёт дождь. В связи с каким-то событием у некоторых людей начинает проявляться генетическое заболевание.
«Это был больной из лепрозория — "мокрец", или "очкарик", как их здесь называли за желтые круги вокруг глаз, — в плотной черной повязке, скрывающей нижнюю половину лица. Он мучительно тяжело дышал, страдальчески задрав остатки бровей. По лысой голове стекала вода.»
Заболевших помещают в лепрозорий, находящийся на окраине города
Большинство сторонится больных и винят их в постоянных дождях и многих бедах города, а дети, наоборот, тянутся к ним и часто ходят на встречи и учатся у мокрецов
«детишки обожают мокрецов, шляются к ним в лепрозорий, днюют там и ночуют, отбились от рук, никого не слушаются. Воруют у родителей деньги и покупают книги»
Кто такие мокрецы на самом деле никто не знает, Голем, глав. Врач лепрозория, отзывается о них как о людях будущего
«И, наконец, есть люди, которые живут будущим. В заметных количествах появились недавно. От прошлого они совершенно справедливо не ждут ничего хорошего, а настоящее для них — это только материал для построения будущего, сырье… Да они, собственно, живут-то уже в будущем… на островках будущего, которые возникли вокруг них в настоящем… — Голем, как-то странно улыбаясь, поднял глаза к потолку. — Они умны, — проговорил он с нежностью. — Они чертовски умны — в отличие от большинства людей. Они все как на подбор талантливы, Виктор. У них странные желания и полностью отсутствуют желания обыкновенные. – Обыкновенные желания – это, например, женщины…»
Люди стагнируют, они давно погрязли в удовольствиях и задержались на комфортном уровне развития
«Человечество обанкротилось биологически: рождаемость падает, распространяется рак, слабоумие, неврозы, люди превратились в наркоманов. Они ежедневно заглатывают сотни тонн алкоголя, никотина, просто наркотиков, они начали с гашиша и кокаина и кончили ЛСД.»
«Поскольку дурак, он же болван, он же кретин и прочее – это невежда, упорствующий в своем невежестве»
А мокрецы – те, чья цель воспитать новое поколение, которое построит лучший мир. Они решили научить детей как построить новый мир, но не научили их тому, что красть у родителей деньги – не хорошо. Будто фундамент их нравоучений и доктрин очень зыбкий. Их действия, такие хорошие и тихие, наоборот, вызывают раздражение у населения, хоть и преследуют благую цель.
Стругацкие «Волны гасят ветер»
Сейчас под взор Максима Камерера попадает Тойво Глумов, сын той самой Майи Тойвовны Глумовой, которая была замешана в деле о Льве Абалкине. Тойво расследует дело о странниках, как предполагалось. Он рассматривает случаи отказа от Фукамизации, инцидент в М. Пеше и «синдром Пингвина». Все эти случаи – отбор.
«Пожалуйста. Так называемый Институт Чудаков является на самом деле орудием Странников для сортировки людей по не известному мне пока признаку. Все.»
«Странники поставили эксперимент по отбраковыванию ксенофобов и выделению ксенофилов.»
« Тойво стал продолжать. Он рассказал: О «синдроме пингвина>>: с помощью некоего «решета», воздвигнутого ими в секторе 41/02, Странники, по-видимому, отбраковывали людей, страдающих скрытой космофобией, и выделяли скрытых космофилов.»
Такой же позиции придерживался и Айзек Бромберг.
Первые обвинения, как и ранее были направлены на странников
« В начале восьмидесятых годов некая сверхцивилизация, которую мы для краткости назовем Странниками, начала активную прогрессорскую деятельность на нашей планете. Одной из целей этой деятельности является отбор. Путем разнообразных приемов Странники отбирают из массы человечества тех индивидов, которые по известным Странникам признакам пригодны для... например, пригодны для контакта. Или для дальнейшего видового совершенствования. Или даже для превращения в Странников».
Позже прояснилось, что Институт Чудаков – место концентрации и выявления людей с «третьей импульсной», которая является мутацией, превращающей человека в странника
« Институт Чудаков в Харькове - несомненный центр активности Странников по выявлению кандидатов в «отсортированные»...
Странники не были изначально на земле, но у одного человека из ста тысяч существует некая мутация «зубец-Т на ментограмме», которая отличает его от множества. Со временем этот человек становится холоднее, теряет тягу к работе и прошлым интересам.
«Потому что боги пришли, не спрашивая разрешения. Никто их не звал, а он вперлись и принялись творить добро. То самое добро, которое всегда добро. И делали они это тайно. Потому что заведомо знали, что смертные их целей не поймут, а если поймут, то не примут… Вот какова морально-этическая структура этой чертовой ситуации!»
Они стараются отобрать более талантливых особей, чтобы помочь обрести будущее перспективным. Странники стараются вершить свою миссию скрытно. Тихо делать добро, которое люди всё равно не примут. Можно посчитать подлостью их скрытые действия, хоть и мирные, но если бы они предупредили людей…это безвыходная ситуация.

Лукьяненко «Звёзда – холодные игрушки»
Главный герой произведения Пётр, начинающий лётчик «ТрансАэро» попадает в план других цивилизаций. И под видом прогрессора геометров Ника Римера пытается выбраться из плена.
« Мы утратили возможность коммуникации. Значит, алари утратил и возможность стать моим другом.»
Возвратившись на родину он встречает знакомых, которые сразу заподозрили в нём чужого
«Человечество должно убедиться, что ты не чужак. Прошла почти неделя, как ты отправился в поиск. Девять дней! Ты был в плену. И кто вернулся из плена, мы пока не знаем.»
Пытаясь восстановить память он вновь вникает в концепцию прогрессорства геометров
«Позволить нашим будущим-друзьям : по Вселенной идти путем проб и ошибок? Или все же помочь им подняться к вершинам цивилизации, к миру и Дружбе?»
А после и узнаёт тонкости работы
«Разумеется, второе! Основное препятствие состоит в том, что любой разум крайне негативно ОТНОСИТСЯ К вмешательству извне. Инстинкты самосохранения присущи цивилизации в не меньшей мере, чем отдельному индивидууму. Встречая расу, только осознавшую себя, неразвитую технически, мы можем оказывать на нее положительное воздействие, приобщать к идеям Дружбы. Это работа прогрессоров. Труд тяжелый, долгий, но достаточно отработанный и поддающийся прогнозированию. Не каждый прогрессор может стать Наставником, но каждый Наставник способен быть прогрессором»
Стратегия геометров по завоеванию других цивилизаций звучит очень надменно и нарцисстично. Они хотят кормить неразвитую цивилизацию с рук, ощущать своё превосходство. Воспринимать и преподносить себя, как мессию
« Регрессия цивилизаций сводит их технический и прежде всего военный потенциал к нулю, по возможности сохраняя культурные и нравственные достижения будущих-друзей. Общество, стоящее на ступени развития, аналогичной Каменной или Костяной эрам у людей, принимает помощь и идею Дружбы радостно и с благодарностью.»
« Для этого и существует концепция регрессорства, которая выполняет первый и самый тяжелый этап на пути к Дружбе»
Таким образом, геометры поработили уже две разумные расы.
Регрессорство геометров является очень двоякой и лицемерной позицией. Они прикрываются благой целью дружбы, дабы получить новые территории. В оправдание можно отметить, что в итоге они приводят порабощённую цивилизацию к своему же, достаточно высокому, уровню развития.
Лукьяненко «Звёздная тень»
В произведении «Звездная тень» нам встречается «Тень», цивилизация, склонная помочь всем
«Ну... как доказал Гарада... если иная цивилизация исповедует отличную от нашей этику, то она не станет вмешиваться. Возможен примитивный силовой конфликт из-за раздела сфер влияния, или добрососедские отношения. Вмешательство просто никому не нужно. А вот если этика близка, то невмешательство становится неприемлемым... никто ведь не может смотреть, как страдают его братья."»
«Ребус складывался на глазах. Тень – конгломерат цивилизаций. Врата – транспортное средство исключительно для межпланетного сообщения. Обучение местному языку проводится ими же, это достаточно удобное и напрашивающееся решение. Меня приняли за волонтера, решившего помочь им… или просто поискать приключения.»
Задача создателей тени – вселенский рай
«-Тень обеспечивает полную свободу и счастье каждой отдельной личности. Тень предоставляет неограниченные возможности для развития и совершенствования каждого индивидуума.»
Выяснилось, что Тень – предки людей и геометров
«Почему мы так похожи, да что там похожи – одинаковы! Тень, Геометры, Люди – словно отражения друг друга, и пусть одно зеркало огромно, другое поменьше, а третье совсем маленькое – но сходство бесспорно…»
Они устанавливали врата на планетах, дабы расширить многообразие возможных миров, таким образом, всё больше существ вовлекая в свой «рай», что не помогло
«Всегда и всюду люди обречены страдать. Терять, искать, ошибаться. Причинять боль и терпеть муки. Мне нужно то, чего никто не в силах дать. Мне нужен рай, а рая просто нет.»
Человек всегда будет недоволен и это была прекрасная идея, создание мира, где планета будет выбираться твоим подсознанием, но никто не думал, что позже человек будет скитаться по мирам и получать всё больше и больше боли
