Spouses-photographers Polina and Alexey Shulgin came up with the project "Palette without time". They collect the colors and shades of the post-Soviet space. The specifics of their work can be understood by the names: "Kopeyka under the snow", "Pigeon backs", "A light bulb in the entrance"... Initially, the photographers thought to study the "palette" exclusively of their native Chelyabinsk and Miass, but frequent trips to provincial cities helped them to discern repeating patterns in other places.

These were buildings, colors, paraphernalia – and they were all united by the fact that it was impossible to determine the city and the year in the yard outside of the context. It was only possible to say unequivocally that we are in Russia. Or where exactly the USSR once was. So we decided to create a palette. The main thing is the fact that if the palette could help us to rethink the attitude to the country and its cities to the end, it can help someone else. Without excessive idealization of the present or the past. More precisely, what's left of it. – Polina says in her interview.

We have specially linked geolocation to each color: you can drive the coordinates into the navigator and come directly to the place where the original photo was taken. Distribution of roles for Polina and Alexey:
1. They walk, drive and photograph a million different things together that seem to fit the idea and touch them.
2. Together and by interviewing relatives, they choose the most characteristic of the resulting frames.
3. Polina processes them and selects the desired color.
4. Alexey adds the exact code of this color and the coordinates of the place where everything was filmed.
5. He also uploads everything to the site and systematizes it in a general palette.

At the same time, the authors of the project take photos from all over Russia, because in every Russian city there are certain things that will forever convey the style and era of that time.
And probably the moment that surprises the most is how much there are actually a lot of details around us, some old exhibits at other times, some things on the balcony, in the garage, even at the exit of the house that do not have a specific time of origin when you look at them, that is, it is unclear, it's a thing in this form there since the forties, sixties or nineties. Of course, there is a part that we shot far beyond the Chelyabinsk Miasa and the region, but in general, for the most part, everything can be found within several apartments, if there are interesting artifacts in the cabinets. – shared Alexey

In the plans for the project, we intend to finish assembling the main database, which we have painted, and process the material in notes. After that we will release a book with a palette and comments between the pages. It may be possible to buy it or order it online from the website, but in general this project is more for us, since everything in the cards is a reflection of the life of us, our loved ones, the whole environment and what, as it turned out, still resonates with a large number of people in Russia and not only. – added author

Оттенки постсоветского пространства - "Палитра без времени"
Супруги-фотографы Полина и Алексей Шульгины придумали проект "Палитра без времени". Они собирают цвета и оттенки постсоветского пространства. Специфику их работ можно понять по названиям: "Копейка под снегом", "Голубиные спинки", "Лампочка в подъезде"... Рядом с фотографией – цвет, который Шульгины считают определяющим.
Изначально фотографы думали изучать "палитру" исключительно родного Челябинска, но частые поездки по провинциальным городам помогли им разглядеть повторяющиеся шаблоны и в других местах
Это были здания, цвета, атрибутика – и все их объединял тот факт, что вне контекста по ним было невозможно определить город и год на дворе. Можно было только однозначно сказать, что мы в России. Или там, где точно когда-то был СССР. Так мы и решили создать палитру. Главным считаем тот факт, что если палитра смогла помочь нам до конца переосмыслить отношение к стране и её городам, то сможет помочь и ещё кому-то. Без излишней идеализации настоящего или прошлого. Точнее, того, что от него осталось. – рассказывает Полина в своём интервью.
Мы специально привязали к каждому цвету геолокацию: можно вбить координаты в навигатор и прийти прямо к тому месту, где было сделано исходное фото. Думаю, что кому-то захочется посмотреть вживую на объекты. В нашей коллекции есть настоящие редкости: например, найти советскую зеленую дверь не так-то просто.
Сейчас фотографы снимают все трещинки и неприглядные на первый взгляд уголки России как часть своей личной истории, культуры, генетического кода.
Распределение ролей у Полины и Алексея:
1. Они вместе ходят, ездят и фотографируют миллион разных вещей, которые кажутся подходящими под идею и трогают их самих.
2. Вместе и путём опроса близких выбирают самые характерные из получившихся кадров.
3. Полина их обрабатывает и выбирает нужный цвет.
4. Алексей добавляет точный код этого цвета и координаты места, где всё было снято.
5. Он же всё загружает на сайт и систематизирует в общей палитре.
При этом авторы проекта принимают фотографии со всей России, поскольку в каждом российском городе остались те или иные вещи, которые будут вечно передавать стиль и эпоху того времени.
И наверное, такой момент, который больше всего удивляет, насколько на самом деле вокруг нас куча деталей, каких-то старинных экспонатов в другое время, каких-то вещей на балконе, в гараже, даже у выхода из дома, которые не имеют конкретного времени происхождения, когда на них смотришь, то есть непонятно, это вещь в таком виде там с сороковых, шестидесятых или с девяностых. Конечно, есть часть, которую мы снимали далеко за пределами челябинской Миасы и области, но в целом по большей части все можно найти в рамках нескольких квартир, если в шкафах лежат интересные артефакты. – поделился Алексей
В планах на проект мы намереваемся закончить сборку основной базы, которую расписали, и обработать материал в заметках. После выпустим книгу с палитрой и комментариями между страниц. Её, возможно, можно будет купить или заказать онлайн с сайта, но в целом этот проект больше для нас, так как все, что в карточках, это отражение жизни нас, наших близких всего окружения и того, что, как оказалось, откликается еще у большого числа людей в России и не только. – дополнил автор
